We want to hear from you! Please take a few minutes to complete this short survey!
for Stony Plain Town Council
It is difficult to believe that we have already come full circle to another election year!
But before we look too far ahead to Election 2025, I want to take a moment to look back on my first term on Council as we've accomplished a lot together over the past four years. This term we've:
increased Councils presence in the community with the addition of a 'Meet Your Town Council' tent at community events,
included the prioritization of youth in our strategic plan,
made accessibility a priority,
taken steps to preserve and activate green space,
fostered tremendous growth in the North Business Park,
moved Phase 1 of the Recreation Centre forward,
started construction on a municipal cemetery project,
agreed to an Intermunicipal Business License agreement with our neighboring communities and
successfully advocated for millions of dollars in grant funding from other levels of government,
the list could could go on!
We're gaining momentum in so many areas, but the work is not yet done! Later this year, council will receive reports on the accessibility of municipal facilities and a review of our current engagement with youth. These reports will form the basis of our next steps forward as we seek to build a community that values every resident, regardless of age or ability. We've requested data that will identify trends in policing over the past 10 years to ensure we continue to receive fair value for our investment here in Stony Plain. We're building momentum in Old Town South and the North Business Park but there is still work to do as these areas of our community continue to develop.
Please take some time to look through our website where you will find reflections on the priorities we had set out in 2021 and discover our intentions and hopes for the future. And as always, if you have any questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to reach out.
I feel truly blessed to have been able to serve our community as a member of Town Council over the past four years and hope that I have earned your trust to represent you for another term.
With gratitude,
Justin
In December 2024 I had the privilege of being interviewed by Chris Brown from Cross Border Interviews. It is on the longer side, but the recording highlights my journey into Municipal Government, celebrates the success of our community over the past 3 years, and identifies some of the challenges ahead of us as we look to the future.
If you only have a few minutes, here are a few links to key parts of the interview:
